FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 25, 2021 — ATLANTA — It is with deep sadness that Columbia Residential and Columbia Ventures announce the passing of Noel Khalil, founder, chairman, principal, and CEO, who succumbed to a long battle with severe illness this morning. He was 70 years old.
Noel was deeply loved as a leader, mentor, friend, and the visionary and driving force behind the work of Columbia Residential and Columbia Ventures in communities throughout Atlanta and the southern United States. He founded the Atlanta-based company 30 years ago with the purpose of providing high-quality affordable housing where people would be proud to live. That mission will continue and his legacy will live on through every member of our team and the great communities that are created and sustained.
In 2020, Noel was inducted into the Affordable Housing Hall of Fame for his esteemed career and lasting contribution to affordable housing within the multifamily industry. Affordable Housing Finance magazine praised Noel as a groundbreaker, saying: “He has helped change the conversation regarding the importance for high-quality design and construction in affordable housing, and his developments have helped reimagine affordable and mixed-income communities in Atlanta, New Orleans, and many other communities.”
The teams of Columbia Residential and Columbia Ventures share their deepest condolences with Noel’s family, friends, and colleagues who shared his vision. Funeral arrangements are forthcoming and will be announced as they are finalized.
