ATLANTA – April 13, 2023 – Columbia Residential, a leading affordable housing developer, owner, and manager, is partnering with Matter Health to bring preventive primary care to low-income seniors at several of its communities in Atlanta. The first clinic is now open at Columbia Heritage Senior Residences located at 1900 Perry Boulevard Northwest in Atlanta.

Matter Health is a preventive primary care provider that caters to low-income senior residents (62 and older) who live in affordable housing communities. In partnership with Columbia Residential, Matter Health has delivered a miniature primary care clinic on-site for Columbia Heritage Senior residents who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid to utilize, allowing them access to a personalized, holistic, and high-touch approach to the patient/provider relationship.

“We are excited to partner with Matter Health to deliver much-needed preventive primary care to low-income seniors, which is focused on improving the physical, mental, and social needs of our Columbia Heritage Senior residents. Our collective goal is to increase long-term health for our senior residents and reduce emergency room utilization and preventable hospitalizations,” said Jennifer Owens, Vice President of Resident Services. “We have another clinic already in the construction phase at one of our other senior residential communities and are looking at six other sites for the near future.”

Currently, Matter Health operates in Chattanooga, Memphis, Knoxville, and Nashville, Tennessee in addition to its newest clinic in Atlanta.

“The barriers to holistic healthcare are plentiful for older adults in affordable housing communities such as Columbia Heritage Senior Residences. Our mission with Matter Health is to solve this problem,” said Mason Mercy, Co-Founder and CEO of Matter Health. “A lack of education and easy, immediate access to care creates poor outcomes and a high-cost strain on the system. We exist to serve these individuals most in need of quality healthcare through a convenient, location-based system.”

“There are strong early indicators that bringing convenient, holistic care to the home drives better outcomes and a better experience for those we serve,” said President and Co-Founder Austin Sohr.

A grand opening celebration was held at Columbia Heritage Senior on April 13, 2023, for residents and members of the community to tour the new clinic. Pictures from the event will be made available upon request.
