Noel F. Khalil Scholarship Application Open To Postsecondary Students

Application Deadline is August 30, 2024

Noel F. Khalil Scholarship application now open to postsecondary students

Columbia Residential is proud to announce the inaugural year of the Noel F. Khalil Scholarship, a $2,500 award available to currently enrolled students in postsecondary education institutions, including colleges, universities, and vocational and technical schools. The scholarship is also available for recent high school graduates and incoming college freshmen who reside at a Columbia Residential property (the applicant’s name must appear on a current, active lease). The application deadline is August 30, 2024, and only Columbia Residential property residents are eligible to apply.

Mr. Noel F. Khalil was a prominent Atlanta businessman who championed affordable housing in metro Atlanta and across the Southeast. At the time of his passing, in 2021, Mr. Khalil was the founder, chairman, principal, and CEO of Columbia Residential and Columbia Ventures.

Over 30 years ago, Mr. Khalil founded Columbia Residential in Atlanta with the mission of providing high-quality affordable housing where people would be proud to live. His remarkable impact on Atlanta and other cities resulted in nearly 10,000 homes for families ranging from very low-income to market-rate. In recognition of his contributions, he was inducted into the Affordable Housing Finance Hall of Fame in 2020. What began as a one-man operation now has a significant presence in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Texas.

Mr. Khalil was also a strong advocate for postsecondary education and for providing opportunities for students to pursue their dreams and career aspirations, no matter their economic background.

Before his passing, Mr. Khalil had two additional dreams: creating and launching a nonprofit organization and establishing a scholarship fund to support students in achieving their college and postsecondary education goals. The inaugural Noel F. Khalil Scholarship (a $2,500 award per selected student) aims to support learners residing in Columbia Residential properties. The following are prerequisites for eligibility:
