Jim Grauley is Principal and Chief Executive Officer for Columbia Residential. Jim served as a partner to Noel Khalil for 14 years of the company’s growth. In his role he is responsible for oversight of the leadership team and company business units and affiliates, ensuring commitment to Columbia Residential’s mission, design and development standards, customer service and financial sustainability. Jim also focuses his development experience in selected markets and supports the preservation and recapitalization of the company’s maturing multifamily portfolio.
Jim brings more than 30 years of experience in the successful urban development of thousands of homes and revitalization of entire communities throughout the southern U.S. Since joining Columbia Residential in 2008, Jim has led the development of more than 5,000 affordable and mixed-income multifamily units in Georgia, Florida, Texas, and Louisiana. His commitment to purpose-built, sustainable revitalization has resulted in numerous LEED® and EarthCraft distinctions and the industry’s most coveted awards, including the ULI Award of Excellence, NAHB Pillars of the Industry, and the Edson Award of Excellence.
Jim is a founding partner of Columbia Ventures, LLC which develops market-rate and mixed-income, mixed-use communities in urban communities. He represents Columbia Residential on the Affordable Housing Development Council and other industry advocacy initiatives. Jim is a graduate of Georgia Tech, Covenant College, and University of North Carolina, and was a 2001–2002 Loeb Fellow of the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
